Chapter 17 - The Silent Assault

The first guard slowly stepped toward a stack of wooden crates, sweeping his flashlight across the floor.

He never even saw the black combat boot that kicked the flashlight out of his hand.

Naomi dropped from the rafters in total silence, wrapping her arm tightly around his neck in a flawless chokehold.

The man struggled for barely three seconds before losing consciousness completely.

Naomi dragged him silently into the shadows and immediately moved to her next target.

She was operating in a state of pure flow, using the darkness as her ultimate weapon.

She threw a heavy metal bolt across the room, causing it to clatter loudly against a steel shipping container.

Two guards rushed blindly toward the sound, their weapons raised in a panic.

Naomi slipped up behind them, delivering a brutal strike to the back of the first man's knee.

As he collapsed, she disarmed the second man with a lightning-fast twist of his wrist and knocked him unconscious with the butt of his own rifle.

Within less than five minutes, Victor's elite squad of highly paid killers had been systematically dismantled.

Only Victor and the two guards holding a sobbing Vanessa remained in the center of the room.

"Show yourself, you coward!" Victor screamed, firing several blind shots into the darkness.

The muzzle flash briefly illuminated the room, revealing Naomi standing perfectly still just ten feet away.

She wasn't hiding anymore.

She slowly raised her suppressed pistol, aiming directly at the center of Victor's forehead.

"Let the girl go, Victor," Naomi commanded coldly.

"Or what?" Victor sneered, grabbing Vanessa by the hair and pulling her in front of him as a human shield.

"You are not going to shoot an unarmed woman, even if you hate her."

Naomi lowered her weapon slightly, her face completely unreadable.

"I don't hate her," Naomi said calmly. "I just don't care about her."
