Chapter 9 - The Grand Exposure

The following afternoon, Vanessa called an emergency press conference at her family's corporate headquarters.

She had invited every major news outlet in Boston.

She planned to expose Naomi Reyes as a violent, unstable mercenary and publicly shame Ethan for protecting her.

Vanessa stood at the podium in a sharp red suit, smiling triumphantly at the flashing cameras.

"Thank you all for coming," Vanessa announced into the microphone.

"Today, I am exposing a dangerous lie that has infiltrated the Whitmore family."

Before she could finish her grand speech, the heavy double doors at the back of the press room swung violently open.

Ethan Whitmore walked in, wearing a sharp black suit and looking like absolute royalty.

But he wasn't alone.

Naomi walked right beside him, wearing a tailored black blazer and radiating pure, intimidating power.

The reporters immediately spun their cameras around to capture the dramatic entrance.

"What are you doing here?" Vanessa hissed, gripping the podium tightly.

Ethan completely ignored her and walked straight to the journalists.

He handed a thick stack of printed documents to the lead reporter from the Boston Globe.

"My former fiancée wanted to share a story today," Ethan announced loudly.

"But I think you will find these financial records much more interesting."

The reporters scrambled to look at the documents.

"These are federal banking records proving that the Sterling family has been funding illegal weapons manufacturing for the past five years," Ethan stated clearly.

Vanessa's face drained of all color, completely horrified.

"That's a lie!" Vanessa screamed hysterically.

"No, it's a verified federal indictment," Naomi corrected her, stepping forward calmly.

"The FBI is currently raiding your father's offices downstairs."

Vanessa looked at Naomi, realizing she had completely underestimated the ghost she was trying to hunt.

"You did this," Vanessa whispered, her entire world collapsing around her.

"I warned you," Naomi replied softly, her voice barely carrying over the chaotic noise of the reporters.

"Real power doesn't need to introduce itself."

The flashing cameras captured the exact moment Vanessa Sterling's empire crumbled to dust.
